I've also gone through 35 boxes and haven't found anything. Have u also looked at the 1998-2000 for WAM's?

A WAM is when the A and M in America on the reverse side are wide, when they actually should be touching. If u find one from 1999 in pretty good shape, u can get about $75-$100 on eBay.

The last one I found was a zinc blank planchet in September. I will be getting more rolls soon, so maybe I will find something else.

No, I haven't seen any of the WAM's. Been a rough winter for pennies.

Found a double clipped nickel last month along with just in the past few weeks I've found:
1998 wide am (Unc)
1970 D strange error...don't have pics but it's some sort of error. it's like a fail clip that never happened. there's a huge gounge in the top of the coin and it's like a half circle. i've seen people post it before on these forums, i have yet to ID it.
struck through grease coins, weak strike 1954 S nickel with the S almost gone, etc.

From 53 boxes, 2 bags, and $126 CWR I have found the following errors

- 1998 Wide AM (2)
- 1979 slight double clip
- 2000 Wide AM
- Several Greased Dies (One major)
- 1974-D Cud
- 1988 no FG
- 1983 DDR :hello2:

I only have pics of the 83 DDR

And out of all that searching I have found 633 Wheats and 1 Indian head. Still waiting on my plank planchet

Although I still do an eyeball check on a few coins (no magnifier) for errors, I haven't searched cents for errors in a few years.

When I did, I remember finding:
* 1998 Wide AM (probably about a dozen)
* 2000 Wide AM (probably about a dozen)
* 1984 Doubled Ear
* 1992-D Close AM

I think there were a couple of others as well, but I don't remember the details.

I also found a few blank planchets and clips, and I still pick those out when I see them...which happens occasionally.

I stopped because I found error searching to be very time consuming as it requires date checking all my cents as well as extra time to look at potential errors with a magnifier. I can't remember if error checking either doubled the search time or quadrupled it, but either way with the volume I was doing... I just didn't have the time and the part I enjoyed was finding the wheaties, so I focused on that.

I may start error checking again if my time frees up, but I don't see it happening in the near future.

I went thru $10 in pennies I got the other day. Got:

2010 proof
1999 Wide am
1994 with filled second "9"
1891 indian head - go figure
two wheats

Guess I'm learning. Takes a while to scope each one with a lens.

Question: the 1999 wide am is pretty dirty, I should guess the answer but should I do a soap and water clean or lemon juice for 10 seconds or anything?

99 WAM is one of the more rare ones and a great find. Soap and water does not hurt, but i would personally avoid any type of acid treatment, i.e. lemon juice

You found a proof and a 1999 WAM? That is awesome. I've only found four proofs, and one of them is a 2009. Probably my best so far. As for cleaningthe penny, im not an expert in that field. Great finds though for only $10.
