Do most modern vending machines accept or reject silver dimes and quarters?

Far as I know they don't except silver. People get silver from them in change because they are loaded into the change slots by whoever services the machine.

Lady I worked with a few years ago tried to get a coke but the machine would not take the silver quarter. I gave her 25¢ for it and she got her coke.

mind if I bring my 2 cents to this ?. I think one thing it depends on is condition. If you try to put a 1964 quarter or dime in one and it is in good enough condition i would think so but if you put in a worn silver quarter or dime it has a less chance of getting accepted. I also think it has to do with the design of the coin if the coin is a silver statehood or washington it has a better chance of getting accepted then say a standing liberty or barber or seated liberty quarter. Same goes for dimes a silver roosevelt has a better chance then a winged liberty or a barber or a seated liberty. this is just my thoughts on this.
