Continuing my other thread on the silver dime hoard I ran into.

So the next day I went back and asked for all her CWRs she has- using my business as a justification for all the coinage. She asked me how much and I repeated to her "all" & smile.

She happily abided and took out a box of CWR of quarters, nickels and $15 of pennies.

Have not gone thru the pennies yet. A few nickel rolls are solid roll from the Jefferson early years but no silver yet.
But the high lite of this excursion was the quarter rolls. Midway thru the box a single 1964 quarter showed up. Ok, good start. Then a few rolls later a near solid rolls! I nearly floor myself as I have ONLY read about these legendary quarter hoards and in my CRH history, finding only 1 silver quarter from the bank/CWR roll. Later I find another near solid roll and another half roll of silver.

Tally:
90 silver Washington quarters
5 SLQ (all dateless)

95 total!

Just awesome! I'm glad you went back!!!! When I saw that original post about the $200 in Eisenhowers and the dime score, I immediately thought collection dump and there had to be more!

I hit 4 solid rolls of quarters last year about this time. One of my favorite finds ever!

Great story - congrats! Silver quarters are so elusive - esp in large collection dumps. Very sweet!!

Not bad. NOT BAD AT ALL. Congrats on your second effort. Use that NIC-A-date on those dateless SLQ's just to see what you have, maybe folder fillers.

I think I read somewhere that nic-a-date doesn't work on silver, it just makes the applied are ugly and stained black.

Wow Hokie that's awesome! I would love to see the original wrappers if possible or a description. I have not had much luck with dimes or quarters. I feel like I do not get CWRs from the right places but I am learning.

Congrats on the score! Christmas came early for you! :) Tis the CRH season now just before the actual holidays where people dump their inherited collections to get the latest gadget they so desperately need. :tongue3:

The wrappers are no different than from my previous 4-5 years of CWR quarter wrappers.

As others had mentioned, it's all luck when one encounters a silver vein. It's what you do afterward that adds knowledge to your CRH hobby.
