Just finished another bag of cents, calling this my best one yet. Started slow, couple Canadians, but then the wheats started showing up a lil more. Halfway through the bag and then this guy popped out:

#11!!!

Shortly after geeking out over that one, this one popped up as well:

Quite happy with life at this point. Annnnnnnnnnd then pulled this one:

I had had 3 in one bag once before, was hoping for a new record. It wasn't to be, but did pull this one, which is even rarer for me thus far:

Only my 6th steelies thus far, compared to 13 IHP now. The 1892 is my 3rd oldest now, and 5th cent from the 1800's! 47 wheats in it, nothing older than 1939 though. Still have a few more bags to go, gonna be a good holiday! Happy Hunting Everyone!

3 IHP in one bag! Congrats!

I suspect steel cents will always be under-represented due to being rejected and stuck to coin machine magnets.

Rosco: was this bag from one of your regular pickup banks. Try for the other bags for silver contents this time. The IH could have all been from a mixed collection dump.
Good catch on the IH's.

That's pretty neat. How do you get the 'bag of cents'? Do you just go to your bank and ask to buy them? I didn't know that was possible as I would think they would keep them rolled in holders. Wonder if Bank of America does that?

I really only go to the one bank. Pick up and dump on the same day, or keep track of my denominations to avoid re-sorting. Sadly, if someone had dumped anything else, its gone, as I pick up the day before they dump it to maximize my cents. Did go through 4 bags of dimes and 7 of nickels from the same week with about average results, so thinking I just lucked out royally...

I started off with 8 rolls, then 20, and then just discussed with the teller and vault manager how best to proceed. Told them what I was doing, asked what would work best for them, and they said bags would be best. Luckily I haven't worn out my welcome yet either. So, if I'm you, just ask the tellers or a manager at the bank(s) you go to. Tell them what you're doing and see what they'd prefer. Bringing the occasional chocolate helps too. Best of luck!

Wow, great finds! Keep at it...never know if that 1909S is in the next bag. How many do you have in the IH set?

I've found 14 IHP so far, but 4 are "doubles". 1897, 1900, 1901 & 1906

Good question to ask everyone. I really wonder, HAS ANYONE EVER FOUND A "KEY" or "Semi-KEY" Wheatie from a bank bag or box, let's say in the past 5 years. CWR's is probably the best possibility.

I got the 1922D with the die crack out of a bag. I've only searched maybe $100 in rolls, the rest have been all bags since I started.

I've been collecting & searching since the mid 60's, never found a key or semi key, until last spring 2018 an elderly friend of mine gave me some old coins, one of which was a 1914-D Wheatie in about Fine condition. Go figure.
