What would you good folks say is the most you would be willing to pay for a 1oz Silver Eagle of recent years that's laying in a tray at a pawn shop? There's a shop I stopped at today with a friend just to look for goodies and saw a few dollar coins, none more than 10 years old. Nothing special, just a 1 oz SE with obvious wear and tear. The guy wanted $25 a coin and not a penny less. Strange considering the coin guy I visited the other day was getting $22 dollars for brand new ones in the plastic.

So what would you say a fair price is and a max price? I'm curious to hear what you all think.

If it is beat up I wouldn't pay more than silver value.

That's what I said. He was, shall we say, not the friendliest guy. He wanted $25 dollars a coin! I said silver spot was just shy of 18 dollars. I said I'll give you 20 apiece for 3 of them. He said no way. It was at a pawn shop in the ghetto near LA and I know he didn't pay even half that for them.

His loss I guess. Although one of them had the really nice looking deep purplish blue effect that I've seen some silver coins have. Wish I wasn't such a coin rookie.

Thanks guys.

Just for fun take one in in similar shape and see what he is buying them for, then you know what his markup is.

there are some key dates. 1995w (3,000 dollars) 2006 reversed and others. i have a 2006w proof wich i paid 32 dollars for in 2006 and now its worth around 70 dollars. at the time i had a choice between the 2 for the same price. i picked the wrong one. the 2006 reversed is about 300.00 dollars now. willy
