Went on a boat cruise today to the Cranberry Isles. When we got we got to walk around the town of Islesford for a little while. In front of a little shop a guy was selling part of his coin collection. I picked up an uncirculated 1892 columbian half dollar for $25. It worked out really well because I already had one from 1893 and have now finished the set!

If that thing isn't real I'll be really mad. It certainly would be nice to find an Isabella. Pretty expensive!

IN AU condition they are worth between $20.00 to $25.00 dollars..
Can you post a picture of it?
It would help determine the value.

I am sorry to say that the coin is not uncirculated and would probably grade at EF-40 to EF-45 but it is genuine! The details (images, lettering and Date) have sharp edges that end abruptly in the fields and don't flow (curved or rounded) into the fields and the Denticles are intact and correctly spaced.

coinsareawesome..

I have to agree with huntsman53. The retail price on that coin is around $14-$16 dollars. BUT, If YOU are happy with it. that is ALL that matters.

One question: Is the set worth the same as the coins individually added up or is it worth a little more?

Not really applicable.. They are worth more or less depending on the grade.
A high grade MS-65 .50 and .25 can be pretty expensive.
Some people may want to buy a matched set or not..
I wouldn't pay more then the two individually to buy them as a set. There is no premium (or should not be) to buy a set over two different purchases. In fact it should be cheaper to buy both at the same time from the same dealer.
