Most valuable eyeball find: 1/10 Krugerrand surrounded by diamonds in a gold nugget ring

Most valuable MD find (so far): 1954 Rosie (pretty sure that's worth more melt value than the two modern $1 coins I found :laughing7: )

1785 Spanish Piece of 8. Found it yesterday detecting along a river bank in NC. This is my oldest find to date, and is one of my best. It's going to be hard to beat the Cache of 1,084 Silver Dimes I found in 2005.

Re: What's the most valuable coin YOU'VE ever discovered?

I found a few keepers, not really sure what the values could be.
1869 Injun in fine condition.
1812 Large Cent, never cleaned, possibly fine condition.
1909 VDB, VF12-20
1919 One cent in AU50 or better(from 7 inches down with cartwheel effect still on it)
1892S Barber Quarter Good condition
1913 Barber Dime Au50.......among a few others. All in all probably worth something to someone or what someone would pay for them. Have not sold any coins I have found(yet). Although I did sell a dog tax tag from 1883 for $75.00. It was the size of a nickle, Ha Ha.....

Re: What's the most valuable coin YOU'VE ever discovered?

File cabinet discovery A few years ago I was going thru old medical and personal items of a family friend after she passed . It was daunting to say the least. She was a packrat ,a doctor of Physical Therapy, and had dimentia for a few years prior to being brought to a full time care facility, where she passed after a few years. I had saved two small file cabinets that I thought I'd use in the shop. A few months ago I thought I'd put them into service and when I moved them into place I heard some clinking under the bottem drawer. Pulled out the bottem drawer and I found this uncirculated half dollar as well as a few Mexican coins of the same era. I thought that was way cool, and a stroke of luck. I haven't looked it up yet, but the clear folder it was in had a price tag of $91.00. I bet that was 12 years ago. What do you think this puppy's worth? G

Re: What's the most valuable coin YOU'VE ever discovered?

Its a nice coin, but I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it wasnt worth 91 dollars when she bought it as its not worth that now. Unless I am seeing the date wrong looks like 1945 and in MS-63 its $45 -55 n the 2010 redbook.Unless it grades higher then MS-63 which it could. See what others have to say, Im sure someone will be along to give you a second opinion.

Re: What's the most valuable coin YOU'VE ever discovered?

I found this 1903-S Barber dime, a semi-key date, in Ithaca, NY back in 1999. It was only an inch deep and had a corroded Indian cent on top of it. The neat thing about this coin is that it was especially well-preserved, and one can barely tell that it spent time in the ground. I was very careful recovering it and cleaning off the loose dirt, and I did not put any hairline scratches on it whatsoever. I grade it somewhere in the VF range by current standards. Dealer asking prices for this coin are currently about $600, but it is more realistically worth $450-500.
