A local fella in the mining business told me the chunkier gold was located on the west side of the La Plata Mountains about 30 miles west of Durango. Can anyone verify this information. The locals in Durango are not much into gold prospecting and information here is very hard to come by. I 've heard from one local guy that a bit of gold has been found in the feeder creeks running into Via Cito Creek off Middle Mtn. near a place called Little Leadville. Can anyone shed any further light on this subject ?
