Sugar! No more?

Is it fact or hype or a typical blip in the economic cycle for a particular industry?

One wonders sometimes how many crisis's and stories are falsely created by the news media on slow days.

It is a market scam to get a run on the store for that item. Back in the seventies there was a story of a shortage of butt wipe and there was a run on the product to increase sales.

Hype is hype and should be counted as such.

This is false.

The food companies have said domestic sugar stocks are low because they are only allowed to import a certain amount of sugar before they pay tariffs on it.

They want to be able to import more cheap sugar rather than pay higher prices for domestic sugar.

Actually that shortage was caused by a joke on the tonight show host johnny carson. We had a few months where every week there was a shortage. We finally had a week with no shortage so as a gag they said there was gonna be a shortage of toilet paper - believing rightly that everyone would eventually use all that they bought. Their joke led to a real shortage when all the listeners went to the store and stocked up. siegfried schlagrule

This is all part of the government's plan. They are now takin' over the healthcare system, so they don't want anymore folks eating all of that sugar ! It is costing too much money on the healthcare programs. Now they are goin' to start rationing it out. :laughing7:

If you read most food labels, sugar is no longer used, HFCS is used to replace sugar. Check you soft drinks and fruit juices. Not to mention loads of processed foods.

Hopefully, there will be a shortage of HFCS and let the rationing begin. BTW HFCS is High Fructose Corn Syrup, a man made sugar substitute.

I prefer Xantham gum extract and tocopherols myself. Can't live a decent life without em.
