Re: Do metal detectors lie about their finds ?
Absolutely and I had no problem calling them out. I also see a post once in a while that I am quite sure the items aren't dug, but unless there's a few other clues beside the picture it's pretty hard to accuse, and it always starts a forum battle. Even for some of the obvious ones you'd be amazed how many will rush to the defense, if they only knew they were defending a liar. Usually the poster defends his fake finds but will never fight tooth and nail and usually just deletes the thread, or asks admin. to do if for him. I really don't see how anyone gets their kicks out of doing it, or feels better about themself, they are loser in the situation.

And I thought I was the only one that notices.

Same here. But I try not to risk getting kicked off the island or accused of slander. Busting out a stupid, fake post isn't worth that much, IMO.

Re: Do metal detectors lie about their finds ?
I think, you don't even have to HAVE a metal detector at this site to lie about finds!

Re: Do metal detectors lie about their finds ?
Way back when I started posting pics of my finds I was called a liar as nobody they said could find all that stuff. They forget that I don't work and have all day to hunt, plus I traveled up and down the coast to do it. I know some people need to feel important. Like fishermen telling the neighbor about all the fish he caught. Here they drag out the ole ladies trinkets and say they found them just so they can feel good. I knew a guy in a local club that would come around with the same ring every year and nobody called him out on it as it wasn't that important. I used to think it was wrong of us to let him get away with it, but what's it hurt if we knew......
