Jeff of Pa.: There are crazy comments in most of these posts that don't follow the stated topic. what gives? By: frankn

Thought is barred in this city of dreadful joy and conversation is unknown
By: Aldous Huxley cie. 1926
I had to really look for this one! actually he is talking about LA.

I am wondering. If Pack had quoted it to herself would you have let it stand?
I would guess that over 50% of these quotes have political implications!

Jeff: How can someone follow a rule that is written on the wind? I am sure most members will follow the rules. As for the hijackers, I can handle them and I am sure I would get some help. The 5th always leaves an unpleasant air behind!

Frankn, I guess I have to agree with Jeff's reason for pulling my post, it was more of a political statement based on my personal feelings. Maybe a thread of "Things That SHOULD Have Been Said in History" would be interesting and more fitting to my comment. No hard feelings Jeffrey ol' boy. :icon_thumleft:

Well, It looks like involved parties are satisfied so.
All's well that ends well. By: ?

Here are some be the wiseest man I knew! My DAD.

When asking about a big bully that was bothering me, my dad said," He who hits and runs away will live to fight another day." I found out later on that when you hit a big bully , he sometimes becomes your friend.

When shyly asking about girles my dad said," If you don't ask, the answers no" I found out later on that the majority were yes!

There was this movie about this seagull with a great theme line which I will quote loosely: No matter how good you are, there will always be someone better than you and someone worse than you. By:Johnathan Livingston Seagull
If you remember the exact line, feel free to correct!

I don't know who said it, but I try to remember it daily.
It goes something like this:

"Never argue with a fool; those who may be observing
might not be able to tell the difference between the two of you."

Another quote that I'm not sure of attribution goes something like this:

"I've often regretted things I've said, but I've never regretted something I didn't say."

I remember a story about President Calvin Coolidge, "Silent Cal" as he was known, that goes something like this:
Once when Coolidge was at some kind of dinner, he was seated next to a garralous female socialite.
She gushed to "Silent Cal" during the meal that she had made a bet with one of her friends that she could get the Commander in Chief to speak more than three words to her.
Whereupon "Silent Cal" while spooning soup, never looked up and replied, "You lose."

Best,
Scott
