Scott,

Good idea to take the young fellow under your wing. It might give a boost to his self esteem to have someone give him a bit of moral support and guidance.

Regards + HH

Bill

There's a kid that I work with, I say kid because he's only 19.

Anyway, he's still in High School and he's having a rough go at life.

I've loaned him $20 last week and he paid me back, but he asked me again tonight for another loan.
Seems he has trouble with his money....

I declined but told him that I'd bring him a lunch tomorrow.
I asked if he liked bologna sandwiches....
He reminds me of me when I was just a kid.
I shared my lunch with him tonight.

He's honest, likable and has just had a hard time in his young life.
He needs to find someone to take under their wing....
I'm always talking with him and giving advice....

Sounds like ole Scotty has a calling, don't it?

I'll take my camera in to work and get some pictures of where I work and whom I work with.

Y'all know me.
I'm always there for a Friend! :hello:

Y'all be good to one 'nother, hear?

Scott

Hey Diesel I need ya buddy...... I have a code that keeps popping up on the truck. P0325-Knock sensor 1 circuit bank or 1 single sensor. That's verbatim. What's wrong what do I need to do? Thanks buddy!!!! I haven't a boat yet. I'm working on a little something. There's a place about 12 miles west of my home called Holopaw. They have land for sale. Here's how it works, buy as little as 1/3 acre for a grand, you get the key to the main gate and have access to 10,000 acres. Gives you access to hunt, fish, camp, go 4 wheeling!!!!!!

Yesterday I was supposed to add water to lifts and pallet jack batteries.
But, when I got to work, I was informed that someone had gotten hurt overnight due to a pallet jack with bad brakes.
They required hospitalization.

I was immediately concerned and asked for particulars.
Plant management and Maintenance supervision was involved in discerning the cause.

We have over 200 pallet jacks and about 50 mast lifts.

It was determined that the relatively new employee hadn't reported the issue and maintenance wasn't at fault because the jack wasn't yet scheduled for Preventive Maintenance.

Regardless of fault, it hurts me personally that I didn't have a chance to prevent the injury.

I have a Preventive Maintenance list of equipment due that I have to go by and respond to all issues that are presented to me, either by management or the employees who operate the jacks and lifts.

Needless to say, us guys in maintenance redoubled our mission and double checked EVERY jack and lift's brakes.

Was a busy night.

Also ended up having to help another co-worker replace a lower drive unit on a Crown double jack.
About as involved as replacing a transmission on a car or truck.

(Helpful image of a Crown Double pallet jack)

Tonight, in addition to replacing load and caster wheels, I replaced several broken momentary push button horn switches and raise/lower momentary push button switches. In fact, I replaced so many switches that we ran out.
The boss doubled the order for more to come in on Monday and I know what I'll be doing when I clock in on Monday.

Horn switches are VERY important for safety!

Hope all have a Great Weekend!

Always,

My Best Wishes,

Scott

As an afterthought,

I was hired as Building Maintenance, but based upon my displayed ability for equipment repair, there is talk of sending me to the Crown Company to become certified in maintenance and repair.

That would certainly cause a raise in my pay scale. :headbang:

One shop I drove a hilo in had a checklist operators had to run through and sign off before each shifts use. If it ain't suitable to use, don't use it.

Another shop had a contracted mechanic that had issues.
Like double filling capacities on an articulating tractor. Inspiring an operator( supervisor) to add more oil ,as the level was not viable in the sight window. I drained a lot of oil out of that puppy.
A supervisor from another area had me recover an oil leaking hi-lo....The new oil filter was wobbling off it's base. Ect.
Needless to say ,we did more repairs than he did.

You would have been most welcome!
A stint with Crown would be interesting ,and add to your repertoire.

Just sent an email to my Adviser when I attended College.

To Wit:

My Dear Friend, Dr. Ringger,

It's been awhile since we've communicated and I thought that I'd update you on my progress.

I have recently accepted a position at Xxxxxx'x XXX, in Oakwood as a forklift mechanic on second shift, which gives me the opportunity to attend daytime classes at UNG in pursuit of a Bachelors Degree in Social work.

A contact that I have gained is the Veterans Representative at the Georgia Department of Labor, Stephan McGruder. He is the point man for Judge Roberts whom presides over "Veteran's Court."
Discussions have lead to possibly volunteering in this capacity. I first learned of the potential during a past meeting with Congressman Doug Collins. Certainly a meeting with Judge Roberts and furtherance of this option can only enhance my passion.

Should I decide to enroll at UNG to further my Credentials, I would greatly appreciate your assistance.

I hope that you have been well and think of you fondly.

My Best Wishes Always,

Scott Xxxxxx

Scott

Life is an adventure. It is YOUR life. How will you spend it?

When I die, I want to slide into the coffin, dusty from the experience and be able to say,
"That was one hell of a ride! Let's do it again!"

Best,

Scott

I'm working with management on communication of equipment issues.

I have ideas that may become implemented....

After all, it's about safety for me and all employees. :notworthy:

My ideas?

#1) Each operator of a jack or lift MUST perform a "Pre-use" check prior to their shift. Each operator must sign off on the equipment prior to use.
Documentation of each shift "Pre-use" of all equipment by operators will be forwarded to Maintenance on a daily basis.

#2) Any issues MUST be reported to their supervisor and may result in the non use of the equipment. Reports will be immediately sent to maintenance.

#3) Any failure to abide by the rules of equipment safety will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Give me a minute and I'll provide more ideas to present to management....

Well,

In for a penny and in for a pound....

I just sent the 3 ideas I have to the Director of Personnel.

I'll either find accolades or a new job soon.

Doesn't matter to me.

All that matters is employee safety.

Let's see how this works out....

Scott

The message sent?

Here ya go....

Jana,
I wish to remain anonymous, but, in light of the recent injury involving equipment deficiencies....
As far as maintenance goes,
Here's some of my suggestions:

#1) Each operator of a jack or lift MUST perform a "Pre-use" check prior to their shift. Each operator must sign off on the equipment prior to use.
Documentation of each shift "Pre-use" of all equipment by operators will be forwarded to Maintenance on a daily basis.

#3) Any failure to abide by the rules of equipment safety will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.

I know that I'm a "newbie" here at Xxxxxx'x, but I felt a personal loss at learning of a fellow employee's injury.

I am always available to discuss the safety of myself and ALL employees safety.

Feel free to contact me anytime.

Together, we can eliminate workplace accidents.

Best Wishes,

Scott Xxxxxx

Sometimes the truth will bite you in the a$$....But, I live by the truth!

And my a$$ has been bitten many times.....
Not much left to chew on......

If you don't know ole Scotty by now, you never will....Dig?

Hint: I like camping, playing guitar and helping others.....

I, I, I, I... [fade]

[Instrumental]

Crazy, but that's how it goes
Millions of people living as foes
Maybe. it's not too late
To learn how to love, and forget how to hate

Mental wounds not healing
Life's a bitter shame
I'm goin' off the rails on a crazy train
I'm goin' off the rails on a crazy train

I've listened to preachers,
I've listened to fools
I've watched all the dropouts
Who make their own rules
One person conditioned to rule and control
The media sells it and you live the role

Mental wounds still screaming
Driving me insane
I'm goin' off the rails on a crazy train
I'm goin' off the rails on a crazy train

I know that things are going wrong for me
You gotta listen to my words, yeah, yeah

Heirs of a cold war,
That's what we've become
Inheriting troubles,
I'm mentally numb
Crazy, I just cannot bear
I'm living with something that just isn't fair

Mental wounds not healing
Who and what's to blame
I'm goin' off the rails on a crazy train
I'm goin' off the rails on a crazy train

Gettin' late....

Got so many obligations tomorrow.

I'll fulfill them all if I win the battle of the sleep demons....

I will probably one day die in my sleep, fighting my demons....
But I'm gonna take as many of them MFKRS with me as I can!
TRUTH!

Be Well, my Friends!

Joke of the day--My boss arrived at work in a brand-new Lamborghini.
I said, "Wow, that's an amazing car!"
He replied, "If you work hard, put all your hours in, and strive for excellence, I'll get another one next year".
