Absolutely 100% false.

Atkins died of complications from brain surgery 9 days after slipping on ice and hitting his head on a NY sidewalk.

A later medical examiner's report suggested he had a history congestive heart failure and hypertension.

Because he was Jewish, no autopsy was performed (at his widow's request).

So I guess he died from climate change? Oh, wait! That's a different thread. :laughing7:

worth repeating (had forgotten the details)

Us nuckle dragging, mouth breathing, low brows do love our roast beast. It's not about quantity of life, it's about quality. Besides, if you don't get enough protein your brain will start to eat itself.

Put the carrot down and pick up some tenderloin, you're welcome.

Awesome! I don't want to die "too" healthy!
Some study recently mentioned our brains need animal fat, so now I gotta switch from a leaner meat to a nice marbled ribeye!
Yay!

I was not aware that was the truth I stand corrected. Although I don't think any Dr. would say it's bad to lose weight (which the Atkins diet will do), I think a lifetime on the Atkins diet is probably not going to end well for most people, but I am not an expert by any means.

There is a product that is a meal replacer: you are supposed to be able to live off the stuff almost like baby formula for an adult. It's called Soylent it was invented by a guy who wanted to live more efficiently... didn't want to take time to cook a meal or sit down and eat. If you ask me cooking is one of the joys of life. I think it's a play on that movie but also made of soy and lentils! Haha. I read a story about a guy who lived off it exclusively for a month. I wouldn't touch the stuff but it was interesting to say the least.

No thanks buddy. My quality of life is great and my food is just fine. I've never had a problem with protein the last 23 years because I eat a varied diet. The protein thing is a commonly repeated myth because a lot of people perceive it to be about eating lettuce for a meal. If you eat just salad you just might have a problem.

The modern answer is clearly Humeburger. A burger acquired with consent of the donor upon their death.

ah . . . ah . . . different flavors ?
and who will hold the consent forms ? (kinda like the porn industry; remember Kaiser - find a need and fill it, cement)

edit: when I first came to CR 40 years ago salsichon (sausage of ground meat) was 30% horsemeat, period
later varieties sometimes said no, sometimes nothing about horsemeat
of the 3 varieties widely distributed today (any butcher will make sausage as desired):
one is real cheap and if overheated the water leaves the pink slime and it collapses to . . . . (family site)
another has more solids (?) but costs more and is still very sensitive to overheating/collapse
the better is "Cinta Azul" which used to be mostly chunks mixed with ground, but alas has more and more meal;
and Cinta Azul costs more than pork chops ? true

edit2: and if the humburger is w/o consent ? (as in free-ranging)

the greenies are wailing

Meat is back on the menu, & scientists who want to ban cows for the sake of the planet are outraged

https://www.rt.com/news/470189-meat-study-harvard-environment/

same study, just meatier titles

edit: NO
much better appraisal

I see how they kind of spun things to cover the angry scientists who are to blame for the health epidemic with their food pyramid. I would argue it's not the food pyramid that caused the epidemic. I think it's the availability of junk food and our culture. I remember it was a big deal when they put soda machines in my middle school because everyone wanted it. The food industry figured out how to get high fructose corn syrup into everything they possibly could. Fast food has grown exponentially to be virtually everywhere. Schools have cut down on exercise, and our society has grown more sedentary with computers and video games the norm. It's normal to have diabetes these days. What normal person needs to drink a big gulp from 7 eleven? 40 Oz of soda or something like that. It can absolutely be mitigated and prevented with a healthy diet but most people don't want to hear that.

agreed,
we return yet again to self control and deferred gratification - both despised by the 'me now' people

edit: just ordered beer and pork

junk food has proliferated because govt subsidizes the growing of wheat, corn, and rice. All our pre-made, pre-processed, fastfood crap is made from these unnaturally cheap foods. Overeating of processed carbs has a direct timeline correlation with the rise of diabetes, morbid obesity and heart disease.
