The truth is, I think about the need to prepare, or hoard, or stash stuff... but I'm too lazy and too complacent.

I also don't foresee the need - but I guess a lot of folks are just like me. I'll be unprepared and screwed I guess...

For me, its a lack of funds. Wife doesn't work outside the home because she's homeschooling my daughter. I don't work for the highest paying person in my industry, I opted to work for someone who treats me well on a business and personal level.

Guess I'll just have to rely on someone more powerful than the government to take care of me and mine.

Wander up our valley after it's too late and you probably won't come back out.

Probably most people hoarding won't respond in threads such as this and I expected that.

However, reading the various forums (not just treasure forums) I see that hoarding silver coins has very much come back into style.

Some are predicting 1 silver dollar could buy a week's groceries when the big depression hits America.

If I were to guess I'd say it will come within the next 20 years and maybe even in this decade. But that's a guess due to so many variables.

But I will say this, the biggest depression the world has ever seen is coming.

Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortals ever dared to dream before;
But the silence was unbroken, and the stillness gave no token,
And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, ..."

I don't hoard anything.
No reserves.
I've always bought bigger, better, and more tools, and studied and practiced to do the best work.
This is the second time in recent years the bottom has dropped out of construction.
It was tough last time.
Suspect it will be worse this time around.

I suppose I could get a jack rabbit, a couple quail, or maybe even a California deer, but not more than once.
Fishing has dropped off in spite of very restrictive regs over the past years.
Skunked twice the last couple short trips. Well, bot two octopuses! YOU wanna eat 'em? ;D

It's difficult for me to say, but we are all reliant upon the system that has developed
Murphy seems to catch up with those who may feel they've taken appropriate steps for all scenarios.

And of course there's an exception, here or there.
I think the point of the thread is meant for at least a significant majority.

At least the wheelbarrow at the grocer thingy has been resolved...
The plastic is much easier to carry. and track
The chip will be more convenient. ;D for tracking

...I've misplaced my driver license. Not an uncommon thing.
When I did a days work I took the check to the bank it was drawn on to get the cash.
Showed the girly my old license.
She says, "This is expired. We'll cash the check this time, but it's against our policy." You know my argument.
If/when it hits the fan, don't you think there will be specific regulations put in place for attempting to trade in gold or silver, bullion or coin?
Anyone you hope to deal with around dinner time will be bound by specific regulations.

There is NOT a discrepancy in one sector or another, of the economy.
We're about to see an all encompassing collapse that will last any number of years.

Thank God young people are resilient, and resourceful.
They'll have plenty of opportunity for crash courses in all the things they missed out on!

Best,

Well if things do get very tuff in the next few years it will be interesting to see how this generation copes with hard times.

This world as we know it is good for at least 1007 years but things will get very bad before the end and some of us on here know it. The question is when will it get really bad? No one knows for sure.

What I suggest is become more frugal and independent. This is good even if things turn for the better so one wins either way.

I guess the thing that concerns me most is what my grandchildren will have to face in a decade or two. The world some of us old timers knew is all but gone.

Gosh MB, I'd like to see you qualify THAT part!

...the world as we know it is good for 1007 years?

And it doesn't take a Cassandra to advise frugality when economics dictate it.

I didn't write 1007 years...here's what I wrote:

We have at least 1007 years. Or in other words we could have 10,000 years.

All types of BFOs owned. Especially want White's Arrow; White's Oremaster; Exanimo Spartan Little Monster; Garrett contract Little Monster.
Maybe to the destruction of the earth and all lifeforms on it. The destruction of civilization and a return to anarchy will be much much sooner. At no more than 200 years is my guess. Worsening conditions beginning now or very soon leading to the 200 year mark. siegfried schlagrule
