looks kinda like a crinoid stem encased in rock. Don't know if any of those were found in Scotland....just my opinion...Harry Pristis is very knowlegeable about things like this. Whatever he says it is is usually in the ballpark...

Kind of looks like the exoskeleton of on of those large centipedes.
