"There's no gold or silver" They Said

Went to the local Goodwill a couple of days ago. They typically have a very unspectacular jewelry section, but I check anyways. This time I looked over and there was a pile of gold. Tons of great costume pieces, many signed Trifari, Napier, etc. and in good condition. As I was digging through, one of the workers walked by and said "There's no gold or silver. I said, "Are you sure" and got a "Oh yeah, we checked" in return.

Well, here's what I got. Everything cost about $30, most pieces for .49.

Pile of costume jewelry:

Sterling earrings:

Pair of tie clips from Norway, marked 830S with maker's marks

Few 1/20 gold filled pieces

And this chain. It took about 5 mins looking through the loupe, but finally figure out it is marked "10k". Confirmed with acid test.

(Sorry for some bad pics)

It was fun to dig through this stuff!

Hello Hallsgator,

Great finds! I think a trip to the local Goodwill...etc. may be in order.

nice finds, a couple weeks ago I bought a small chain and pendant from a garage sale. the guy swore it was only plated, but it sure looked and felt like gold, so I paid $5 for it. Looked at the clasp under a loupe and sure enough it was stamped 14k. I love it when they say it's all fake.

Nice finds! I really like the tie pins. I may have a tie tack that matches it.

Most of the people I meet at Goodwill don't always know where to look on chains, bracelets, earings, and tie clips.
I've found several 10K and 24 K & 925 pieces there and they were cheap.

I just LOVE doing business with amateurs.

Nice finds btw; especially the 10K chain.
