It is usually about religious upbringing. Some folks get a halo...whereas some folks get horns when they die.

You'll probably get horns for trying to start an argument :laughing9:
Even more confused now lol

The halo effect is when metal is in the ground for a period of time and some of the material has "leaked" out (rusted) into the surrounding soil making the piece of metal appear bigger to the metal detector.

HI LaFatLife: The word that you are looking for is "ionization". And yes, it does occur and has the effect of making the target appear larger due to the
increased electrical responsive field.

Ask any metal detector manufacturer or ham radio operator.

In scientific terms, the Halo Effect is a conductive increase in target size as seen by the metal detector's electromagnetic field. In simple words, the detector "reads" an iron target as a nonferrous object of high conductivity, i.e. the object made of copper or silver. The effect is caused by excessive target oxidation permeating the soil directly surrounding the target. The Halo Effect is associated with long term burial of an object or highly acidic soils.

So it is Oxidation, not Ionization
Thanks though. :)
