damacus steel * is a process were wire is heated and folded and forged back over and over into itself for strength and it causes a wavy look in the steel blade ---it can be made "anywhere in the world and can be old or modern " --its doing the process of making "damacus steel" that allows one to call it that.

if they call it that , most likely it is. "damacus steel " process made.

Don't spend the money on that knife. Body made in China, Damascus made in Pakistan. Here is a short slideshow of some quality custom and factory-made knives. You'll see "Birdseye," "Wave," and "Mosaic," Damascus steel in some of these knives. Some of the steel has been folded over on itself over 500-times! Do some research, Google a little! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwbjDyuknfU
