hi all, Has anyone ever tried to get some of these maps from the Library of Congress? Is it a hassle or not worth it at all? Thanks for the help in this matter..

Try this site:
http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/index.html Click on "History" then "Maps"

Try putting in your state in the "keyword" section (near the top). I put in Missouri - and found stuff dating from 1805 (Louisiana Purchase) and Civil War era, and late in the 1800s.

Have fun and HH

I forgot this bit:
I dunno if there are "Treasure Maps" as such there, but there's certainly plenty of information if you want to figure out where something could be.

These maps are great. I have already used one in particular for my area (1861) to help me locate an old brick kiln.

Good stuff!
