I can drive 1 mile to the outskirts of town and join dozens of other miners on Lynx Creek where I find color every time, or I can drive 20 miles and trailer my ATV out to the Agua Fria and explore miles of creek searching for the very rare gold pocket.

One location is cheaper to get to and I know I will find gold, but it's crowded and I will basically just be digging in one hole and try to move as much material as possible.

The other location is remote and beautiful but is very hard to find gold in...

I have no idea where I'll go...???

If I was younger I'd go to the harder place every time. But then I've never been accused of being real smart. I like the high lonesome, but that's just me.

Decided to go to Lynx Creek, but head further downstream where there are less people... Loading up the Suburban, now...

Nope! The storm skirted to the South of us. When I drove home the other night from Phoenix, there was 3" at the top of the grade near Sunset Point, but the further North, the less snow...

And I'm glad I went to Lynx Creek; got a nice little bit of gold...

My first pan digging into an old dredge pile along the creek:
