Hate winter and the snow that keeps you from getting out ???

Well, that snow can be a boon for those looking for old homesites where all traces have vanished. Can't figure out where the road was, or where the cellar holes may have been due to the lack of a stone foundation ? Go out and take a look after the snow has fallen and you might be suprised. Details of the surroundings can really be highlighted by that fallen snow. The snow can really bring out the depressions and road cuts that you couldn't see under the leaves and tree limbs. The same goes for the cellar hole and the privey's. Looking for these areas seems to work best once the snow starts to melt a bit. The depressions will hold the snow longer, while the higher spots will start to melt away leaving a plain view of where the road went. Bring a camera so you can compare after it warms up and you can swing a coil close enough to the ground to get signals.

Great tip! I guess we are both shut down for awhile. Hopefully the weather will improve by the weekend. Last year We hunted almost every weekend during the winter. Tsgman
