I now of an old indain and stage coach trail near where I live.
Are these for detecting??

Not the trails or roads themselves. Detect where the people stopped for the night, camped, spent their $$, etc... Like stage stops for instance.

That is what I was thinking. I have been close to finding where they forded a river at and it is said that there is about 50 old fire rings at that spot. It is hard to follow the trail. I have been up to about one mile away from the river.
