This is a wild trajectory. They're saying that Matthew may go out to sea and then circle back around. That's a double whammy. Stay safe guys.

Ya I know. One track has it coming all the way back to the keys and hitting us. Whatever the track this storm is going to move more sand than anything has in 20-30 years. I am excited about the treasue possibility but but sickend by the damage that is sure to happen.

There is a major difference between riding out a category 1 and a category 3 or 4 hurricane in your car. It is projected to be a cat 4.......

CategorySustained Winds
174-95 mph 64-82 kt 119-153 km/h
296-110 mph 83-95 kt 154-177 km/h
3 (major)111-129 mph 96-112 kt 178-208 km/h
4 (major)130-156 mph 113-136 kt

Well then I guess I better call Reed Timmer and borrow the Dominator vehicle

I keep this framed little reminder next to my front door. I see it everyday when I walk out. It was nothing but scary. It went from a hurricane party to a life threating event in a matter of hours. photo-138.JPG

I remember him well. He was supposed to hit us here in PB till he decided to throw a left hook into Miami-Dade. And he changed the Florida building codes forever. Be Safe!!!

Everyone stay safe and try to make the best of it.

I rode out a storm the year before Katrina forgot its name, was in Slidell and it was drawing a bullseye on us, gets personal when you see the tide swell and spiral bands in the sky. Took a last hour jog to the east and the panhandle ended up getting the worse of it, I remember standing by lake Pontchartrain, waterline was up at least 10 ft, boats were being tossed like toys and you could lean into the wind and not fall down, crazy force of nature - And I thank god I was not there the next year, might have been swimming with the gators.

Could be an epic opportunity for metal detecting, I know I'd be there in a hot second if able.

Im still gonna get up at 5am and play it by ear. I like vero so I can go north or south and there are plenty spots to check. But if the bridges and beach access is closed ill try jupitor inlet. Sometimes a1a can get messed up for weeks. My buddy is driving so we will probe around for beach access somwhere. I saw jupitor inlet was already getting cut down on the news. Reporter was standing right in front of the san miguel de archangel galleon site.
