So, why is it some giant secret? It would make a lot more sense to tell people up front they have XXX time edit their posts in case they wanted to add pics, or realize they need to correct a typo or any of the other normal reasons for editing?

Could easily find out yourself, just go back in your posts yesterday, 2 days ago ect up to a week and find out when you are unable to edit.
