How many holes do you dig now roughly?

I'm 73 and can go 4 hours of hunting with no problems but when I was younger I could go eight hours. The big change in my hunting the last couple of years is the heat. If the temps are above 85 I either don't go out or I limit my hunt to 90 minutes at the most. As for holes I can dig 100-125 per hunt with no ill effects. You mentioned you trying to lose weight and I think that's a factor in how long you detect or how you feel after a hunt. I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 160....I keep my weight under control and I truly feel it's a plus when detecting. I've never smoked which is another factor.

Yes, the weight makes a lot of difference. I had a botched operation nine years ago on a foot repair (from a previous motorcycle wreck) that left me walking on the side of my foot. this throws off the hips and the back. Am going to chiropractor this Friday. have lost 22 pounds so far and working out on the Total Gym. It just takes a lot longer now to get where I need to be than it used to but it is still a state of mind to keep at it.

When i started hunting 6 years ago i could hunt for 8 hours in a day over a weekend without rest. When i hunt now days i usually hunt for 5 hours or so.

Fields, Parks, and Forest Preserves - 60 to 70 holes in a 3 hour hunt. (in the parks, I hunt in the woods, not on the manicured lawn areas) Personal lawns or permissions - I usually kick it down to 20 - 30 holes in 2 -3 hour hunts. I'm more selective with the targets, because it's someone's lawn. Been detecting for over 30 years, and am probably in better than average health for my age, but I do have knee and back issues. A surgery on each. For me, my issues are more skeletal than cardiovascular. (Im a retired UPS Delivery Driver with 27 years of service on the truck). Nuff said about the knee's !

I only dig one hole per target, lol. Seriously though, I'm only good for 3-4 hours of detecting +/- and I'm beat. Use to be I could go all dang day digging like a fool. Gettin' old sucks in this regard.
