Masks are designed to stop bodily fluids from accidentally spilling into an open wound when undergoing surgery. They weren't designed to stop a virus.

Yes, most are designed to stop liquids and small solids. The masks are stopping the aerosols (airborne water droplets) that contain the virus, not the virus. Since this is a dosage based virus (the less you get initially, the less infected you become), a mask is worthwhile even if it stops only 25%-50% of the virus. Since a person sneezing or coughing or even talking or breathing produces very large aerosols at the source, a mask will be effective stopping most of it at the source, unless the mask is garbage. That is why they say wearing a mask is for others' protection, not yours.

There is plenty of actual science out there that demonstrates that masks reduce the spread. Whether you wish to google for it, or believe it, is up to you. I personally hold contempt for people who do not wear masks indoors. I agree with another poster who said not wearing a mask around others is selfish. Fortunately, where I live, mask compliance is over 99% indoors from what I've seen.

Claiming this state or that governor or such and such political party has a big virus problem is not science. Anyone can point out anything anecdotally to support their point, and anyone scientifically minded will ignore it, but you may convince alot of fools, and make the problem worse.

There are many countries without a virus problem. Some countries are virus free. Most have left-leaning, even extreme left leaning governments. What they have in common that matters is that they did aggressive lockdowns with 100% compliance, and 100% compliance on quarantine of incoming travelers.

In my judgment, the reason the US has 4% of the world population, but 20% of cases, is this "I'll do what I want" attitude as opposed to a "greater good" attitude in the successful countries. If you want cancer, fine, do what you want and smoke a carton a day. I don't care.

But, when it comes to your actions could make me sick, I do care, as do all the people who have died who got the virus from someone not wearing a mask. When I see someone not wearing a mask, I avoid them and give them a look of contempt, but most people do not do that. And they should not have to, IMHO.

Remember, science is about probabilities, not all or nothing absolutes. If a mask is somewhat effective, which the science has proven it is, at preventing a contagious, deadly disease, then it should be worn around others, out of respect for them.

And what I want to know is how come it isn't doing to Africa what its doing to the US. Could it be hydro chloroquine is available over the counter in a lot of African countries? I don't know. Makes you think.

The reason that was done was to prevent a run on masks before supply was ramped up for everyone. He had to make sure there was enough for health care workers, first responders, and essential workers first.

Whether that was ethical or not is a debate for another day.

I don't know that there's much to debate there. Dr Fauci is a bald-faced liar. He also lied about the percentage thought nescessary to acquire "herd immunity". In fact, he accually though lying was "for the greater good", which raise the questions of how come does the greater good always involve committing evil, and also what else Fauci might be lying about?

Is Fauci lying about the vaccine too? For all we know they are shooting people up with saline solution.

Ask any missionary you might run across. Low doses of that hydro2-200mg a week is what I was told by some friends that have taken for almost 40 years.
How can you trust someone who changes there life or death treatment at least every month. If I have to go to nursing home, the prefuneral home, please give me a double shot of that covid in a dirty glass.
Really study and read the climate change data if you want to read fudged data. The ogallala aquifer is 3-5 feet higher than ever recorded from Gordon Ne to Grand Island Ne. this very moment, drought and all.

Dosage based virus I guess but what happens when you get infected is the virus multiplies in your system, either your body has antibody resistance to the virus or it doesn't and if it doesn't it won't matter how much you get. Everyone should know our health care people don't know half what they think they do, most specialist I've seen couldn't change a tire on their car to save their life. Just saying there's a difference between educated and smart, most don't have any common sense and can't learn anything for themselves by general observation on their own and some even if they seen something with their own eyes wouldn't believe it if they were taught different.

If it were true that it helps to slow the rate of infection spread then explain to me why heavy lockdown states with the full steps taken that you outlined fared no better than states that didn't.

You're exactly right.
It's already too late to educate the tv watchers and the brainwashed living in fear.
They believe anything they are told, always have always will.

It's all made up and anyone with critical thinking skills can see that.
I'm done too and still never gonna wear a mask.

It's nothing more than the cover up for the crash and nothing more than a flu, invisible boogeyman.
A bunch of full grown men acting like scared little girls and it sickens me.

First off, thank you for your service DFXScout.

You are right on in that going out of your way to dare others into confrontation is a ridiculous thing to do. I have heard it said that, "The most important thing a soldier carries into battle is a reason why", and I agree with that statement. I don't question your reasons and I mean no disrespect. But a free society does not quarantine healthy people so that sick people can walk the streets. Making the assumption that everyone else is some kind of health hazard is always true to some extent but it is not healthy to let risk avoidance control a person's life much less to control a society. I believe that it is the compromised who should take precautions. If I were a diabetic, I would not harass other people about their sugar consumption. Again I mean no disrespect. I hope you stay healthy, and trust me I am not going out of my way to harm anyone. :usflag:

Thank you again for your service and sacrifice.

Very well said.......Bravo !

"It's just the flu". I will pass that on to my brother who hasn't been able to taste or smell since June or my buddy who called me and told me his mother was going to die the next day. He called the next day and she died. Do I tell him the experts on here say "it's just the flu".

I don't walk around with the mask on. I put it on as I enter the store and take it off when I leave. If nothing else it is a sign of respect for my fellow man but those selfish people that refuse are nothing more than that. They walk around with an "I will show those sheep a thing or two".

Search for Ivermectin. This drug has been proven to stop people from contracting covid & knocking it out of those already infected. Not popular because big pharm stands to make nothing from it. It's been around in sub sahara countries working wonders for years. It won a Pulitzer Prize in medicine.

If they could I think the 402 thousand that has died so far in the U.S. may disagree with your kool-ade assessment.

402 thousand? You know the hospitals get paid more for a covid cause of death on a death certificate than anything else, right? So not 402 thousand. We will never know the real amount. Someone I know died from a heart attack and the hospital folks asked the wife if they could put covid on the death certificate. Really.

If sick enough, I would agree to some unknown dosage of ivermectin but not hydroxycloroquine.

Its not a miracle drug. Most commonly used in de-wormer formulas for livestock throughout the world.

The stated numbers are almost certainly underestimates, not overestimates. But you are right that we never know the actual number of deaths by any cause.

I volunteered for the smelly job (wear old clothes and burn them later) of assisting in necropsies of sea turtles and marine mammals. We often found stomachs full of plastic trash. But the cause of death was often starvation, malnutrition, or boat strike. Would they have died without the gutful of plastic? Probably not.
