Bundy's case and his band of genetically malformed individuals brandishing firearms have nothing to do with the fact that he was trying create facts where none existed. Crocodile tears...

When he declined to pay the necessary and lawful grazing fees, he was compelled by law to remove his cattle from Federally controlled assets. He did decide to deny others, that would have paid the ridiculously low fees, the opportunity to lawfully utilize the grazing area. Sorry to say, the guy was trying to portray himself like Robin Hood, but was really the thief. The public, you, I, and everyone were the victims of his larceny. Him and his ilk were taking us for a grazing fee "joy ride", where he was the perp, not the victim.

On a different note - One individual in an earlier thread, suggested that the Federal lands be turned over to local control. Yikes! Can anyone imagine the field day the tree huggers and organism lovers would has with that scenario. RE: California's ban on dredges... what's next. Scrap all of your dredges and high-bankers forever or at least bring them to the recycle center for later use as beer cans or energy drinks containers where the state gets a deposit fee (tax).

There were changes being made relating to grazing continuing in the allotment. Fact is there wasn't much grazing going on. He did what he did on principal and lost. More than once.

Plus he is a loon

So does the constitution permit the federal government to own land? Yes it does, but there are very strict limitations. Our founding fathers were very specific concerning federal ownership and control of land. Article I, section 8, clause 17 of the U.S. Constitution gives the feds control of 10 square miles of Washington DC. It further states that land within the boundaries of a state may only be acquired if they first have the consent of the state legislature. The federal government is limited in it’s acquisition of land to four purposes, military forts, arsenals, dock-yards, and other needful buildings. Nowhere in the constitution does it grant the federal government the power to “own” millions of acres. The so called "public lands" that they currently control must be returned to the states.

There were conditions when states joined the Union.

Every agency and the rules they are directed to follow are sent down right from congress.

There are absolutely "Federal Public Lands" out side of D.C.

If what Bundy believed were true the 1872 mining law would not exist.

As the only place it has power is those very lands you and he say do not exist............

Some of you people need to wake up. We are not talking about "Public Land." It is very much government land and they will control the way "they" want to.

It's been that way for awhile and won't change anytime soon. It's their land and we are lucky to have any access to it. Everyone should be grateful they allow us the privilege.

Well, just grateful they allow us access. People don't realize how thankful they should be for the government to give them their rights.

The feds appreciate 3 months of your wages every year of course, but sometimes they'd also like a thank you hehe.

Everyone knows freedom isn't free these days....it costs lots of $$$!!

Weekenders and flatlanders on vacation run roughshod all over the same desert Bundy ran his tiny little herd in.

More people use public land than ever before.

Just now its mainly for recreation and to leave trash and ruin stuff for the of us that have claims and actually use the land as a resource.

if the states gain control be ready for parking lots and designated areas to pay and play.

This is all about Bundy having the biggest hat in town. It is not about him fighting for rights.

He has ample room and better feed on his land than anything nearby in the desert.

His neighbor is the same. These guys with long time land holdings have leverage and they use it. Bundy is not getting rich raising cattle. It's not about taking away his way of life he can still do all of it right on his ranch and better.

Or maybe he can make millions like his neighbor selling water rights for inflated fee's and then pretending it was just doing business.

There are only 700 grazing permits in Nevada out of the 18k total.

Bundy not being able to graze on the Bunkerville allotment had zero affect on his operation.

I feel for certain ranchers out in actual remote areas that use high country grazing part of the year to save money on Alfalfa and water.

But, Cliven nope... Big hat, big truck, big mouth small brain.

Promise you Bundy was hoping to sue back in the nineties and get something out of it.....

Oh, wait he did and lost.

The only part of this that concerns me are the federal swat teams killing unarmed people. Soldiers can't get away with what they do.
The courts can handle the bundy drama part just fine haha.

The only ones shot was the moron Levoy and one of the people he had in the vehicle when he tried to run a roadblock and got out ARMED and was shot by agents with pistols not a swat team or snipers.

Only two rounds were discovered to be fired by FBI based on bullet holes in the vehicle they did hide evidence and the one agent is facing charges. three by the state police after Levoy got out repeatedly telling them to shoot him. OSP has not been accused of a cover up. FBI has.
Though screwing up as an agent does not show there was an overall agenda.

They did fire on the vehicle as it accelerated towards the roadblock.

Play stupid games win stupid prizes.

If this had been some crazed urban dweller confronting the state police or highway patrol. the vast majority of commenters here would say it was justified as the perp wasn't following officers commands.

The whole Bundy saga is lame , they are not heros they are idiots.

Ironically Levoy didn't even know Cliven. He was however inspred to stop paying his grazing fee's and jeporadize his cattle ranch even though it never showed a profit.

He did take in 150k plus because of his foster kids. Who were removed because of the Oregon standoff.

He even stated that was the government taking away his income.

Cool dude. so, having foster kids is an income!?!? WTF

So, he was a non profiting cattle rancher who discovered he could make more money being a troubled kid rancher.

GROSS

So, basically the Bunkerville koolaid, got Taos earmuffs killed and left a bunch of troubled youth cattle without a dad again.

Then the whole thing is thrown out.

Major round of applause good job major accomplishment and win...

HOW?

Desert tortoise faces uncertain future amid Bundy conflict
https://www.reviewjournal.com/news/...e-faces-uncertain-future-amid-bundy-conflict/
One of the people caught up in the effort to save the tortoise was a Bunkerville rancher named Cliven Bundy, who didn’t take kindly to being told to limit the number of cows he was grazing on public land in northeastern Clark County.
So began a decades-long dispute that would inflame anti-government sentiment, turn Bundy and his family into heroes of the militia movement and nearly end in bloodshed in 2014.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ammon_Bundy
Ammon Edward Bundy (born September 1, 1975)[2] is an American car fleet manager[6] who led armed militants in the 2016 occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.[7]
He is the son of rancher Cliven Bundy, who was the central figure of the 2014 Bundy standoff regarding unpaid grazing fees on federally-owned public land.

Citizens for Constitutional Freedom
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citizens_for_Constitutional_Freedom#Indicted
Citizens for Constitutional Freedom (C4CF), later also known as People for Constitutional Freedom (P4CF), was the name taken on January 4, 2016, by an armed private U.S. militia that occupied the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Malheur National Wildlife Refuge headquarters in the U.S. state of Oregon from January 2 to February 11, 2016.[1][2] The leader of the organization was Ammon Bundy,[1][3] son of Cliven D. Bundy, who engaged in a standoff with the federal government over grazing rights on federal land.[4][5]
Eight of its members, including Ammon Bundy, were arrested on January 26, 2016[6] while a ninth member, Robert "LaVoy" Finicum, was shot and killed by law enforcement officers.[7][8] This was followed by a number of other arrests that eventually culminated in the end of the occupation.[2] A total of 27 people were charged under federal law with a variety of offenses, including a single count of felony conspiracy.[9][10][11] Their trials were scheduled to start on September 7, 2016, and February 14, 2017.[12][13]
During the occupation, the militant group claimed that the United States Constitution allows the federal government of the United States to own only a small amount of land, and that the government can acquire land in states only with the state's consent.[14]

Nevada Public Lands Face Uncertainty After Bundy Ruling
http://www.publicnewsservice.org/20...-face-uncertainty-after-bundy-ruling/a61018-1
Cliven Bundy has called on the county sheriff to protect him from federal agents, but the Clark County Sheriff said he recognizes federal authority and will not intervene. It is unclear how the BLM under the Trump administration will proceed.

I felt that I have apologized for starting this thread even though the mods have stated that it is mining related as it relates to the BLM. However the constant derogatory name calling is causing me to lose respect for someone I once respected. One thing for sure is we are all human and make mistakes.

He was never in the right. He was not a victim of over reach in regards to his original reason for letting his cattle remain.

It was not a takings from him. He could have just raised five hundred head on his own land and actually raised better beef.

The BLM should have acted in 1998 Levoy would still be Alive Cliven would still be selling cattle and His Son would still be a fleet manager in Idaho.

They knocked the amount of cattle he could graze to 150 at a time. they didn't say he couldn't graze cattle. he has more than enough room to raise cattle.

He made the very foolish decision almost twenty five years ago to not pay his grazing fee's and its because he said the same people who they paid the fee to for the last twenty years didn't have authority anymore because he didn't like the new rules.

It just doesn't work that way.

When he initially protested Nevada hadn't voted away the public lands disclaimer...and even when it did in 1996 it didn't mean that the state now had jurisdiction over federal public lands in Nevada.

I'm sorry for calling the guys names. I will not apologize for actually looking at all of the facts in regards to the subject.

The whole situation hasn't proven Cliven right in any way. It is unfortunate how many people he dragged into it that actually know very little of how his situation actually came about.

How he doesn't have more "rights" than anyone reading this.

Not that impressed with someone who claims he will do anything necessary yet, happens to be unarmed and surrounded by armed strangers at a standoff they just heard about for some dude who has been breaking a lawful(3) court order for twenty years.

Not impressed at all.

The types of lands can overlap into BLM's "Authority". Yes we are all human and make mistakes. Good or bad some of this needs to now be disclosed even if mistakes where made on both sides.
Thanks for pointing out wildminer.

People make bad decisions everyday. I watched a movie last night about a pro hockey player that got lost snowboarding and had to survive for 8 days without fire or food.
He fell through a lake at one point and barely survived but lost both his legs.

If he was a weed or cigarette smoker he would have had a lighter. He could have had a huge bonfire while enjoying a smoke and been rescued before he ran out. What an idiot.

The YouTube video I saw of the shootout wasnt two shots, maybe two hundred hehe. Didnt seem as though they were ramming anything but who knows, they did go into a snow bank up the road from the road block and it was pretty threatening to the snow. Either way im glad it was just a normal agent that killed someone this time. It's good to mix things up. Those pesky citizens need to learn how to shut up when they protest stuff hehe.
