Went out with my little brother driving around and we found an old abandon nature preserve. After about 3 hours of hunting all we pulled out was 1 wheatie, a '44. We were about to call it a day, but I wanted to sporadically swing over the yard one more time. I got a nice signal that was jumping from half to dollar on my Ace 250. Usually this is trash, but when I pinpointed it, the signal wasn't overwhelming (as it usually is with trash on these signals). When I saw the rim I couldn't believe it, I made my little brother run and get the camera from the car. Washed it up when I got home... a 1953-D Franklin Half Dollar!

Happy Hunting!

That second pic really stirs my blood and is what makes me go out! It's the best part of the hunt in my opinion!

Congrats on digging old balding Ben!

Don't be stirring Neil's blood like that! Once you you get to the point in pic 1, stop, call me, leave details and go on about your business as though nothing has happened.

Nice find!

Nicely done!!

Gentle Ben holds a spot in my heart. . . he was the first half I found
while metal detecting. . . and his date was the same as my birth year.

Great hunt!!! Makes you wonder how many of those may have been passed up thinking it was a crushed can or trash ???. I'm going to stop thinking about it.

Awesome find!
And good job keeping it scratch free.

I have never found a half - yet.
I think this is the year though!

I don't ever have the patience to run and get a camera. Good story in pictures. Really great find too. Monty
