AHHHHHH, it is very frustrating to go out hunting and not have a great place to go. I have been to a few good places, but I want to find consistant places to go for old finds. Can anybody give me some ideas of how they approach homeowners or ask farmers about hunting their property. Interested in Civil War, so finding places to get some finds from this time has also been hard for me to come by. HELP PLEASE

most homeowners who own older historic houses are very interested in the history of the house and will let you detect unless their yard is out of this world perfect. And I've found that farmers are even more receptive as long as you don't go in there after they plant.
Think of it this way, the worst they can say is no. Then you move on to the next property to ask.
