I've used a Sunray for a few years now. I'm going to a hand-held pinpointer, prob Garrett, because my Sunray is acting up now. I also want to eliminate the extra weight and incorrect balance aquired due to the mounting location.

I use a screw driver for a probe on everything except the Sov Gt which has the Sunray S-1 inline probe. I have used the hand held toys and they don't compare. The inline probes run off the electronics of the detector and have a range of near 8 inches. its like a small coil.

if the whole Probe cost $100.00 I would have one for my Explorer.

But if I'm not mistaken they are now running over $200

$194.95 + S&H
(Note: Above price does not include the upper shaft. If you are not sending in your upper shaft for modification add $47.09 for a new upper shaft for pre-mounted probe.)

even at $100 they could do like auto parts.
Send an upper arm with, and send the
upper arm you have in to them as a replacement.

I've had my S-1 probe now for few years and bought the 12" and longer extention cables from Minelab so I could hip mount the probe and the meter which I had at the time. Because of the tones of the GT I didn't need the meter so I sold it. The inline probe is better by far than any hand held probe. When I am real lazy I lay on the grass and wave the inline probe ahead of me to find the coins in real trashy spots.
