Do you remember when you first caught the metal detecting bug? How your mind washed with all the possibilities? You knew it was just a matter of time. And then it happened....you reluctantly dug that target that you knew would be clad or junk just like the prior twenty or so. But to your amazent, it's a ring!!!

Maybe it wasn't a "valuable" ring, but it was your first ring! That immediately makes it priceless. And besides, you reassure yourself that it just as well could have been a gold ring.

Please take a moment and post your first ring story and pictures if you have them!

Happy hunting!

My first ring.

I found this ring over the summer at a local state park in the high beach sand. I was using my Tesoro Eldorado. When I found this, I at that moment knew that I had to get "in" the water and thus began my research for a new detector.

The ring appears to be copper. It has a cowboy on the front, and it has some writing on either side of the cowboy. The ring has such beautiful patina I didn't want to clean it. it looks like it could be a Lone Ranger kids ring. It appears to be quite old. No matter, I love this little ring as its my first.

This was my first ring . Went out to a sledding hill a couple years ago and dug it up. It was only about 2 inches deep. It's 925 and cz.

Stopped at a small local park today and was not finding much but trash .. penny, quarter.. then under the second large pine tree a fairly solid signal in the 26 range only bouncing a couple of numbers. I would normally ignore this as it would be foil, fortunately foil is normally lower or higher and I rarely see 25/26 so I figured I would dig it up.. about 3" down.. My very first Diamond Ring!
Not an expensive ring, center stone has a lot of large imperfections but if it wasn't missing the side stone it would still be very nice..

Yours is a Hopalong Cassidy ring. Its original coating of silver has worn off leaving the copper which has develop the patina. You will see examples on the internet by looking for Hopalong Cassidy ring.

Class of 2012 found 5" deep rang up as a dime, and quarter on the F44. VDI was jumpy but there was no doubt something good was there by tone. Took me 15 min to locate on Facebook the girl who has the same initials inside. Just waiting on a reply to return it to it's owner. Been a few months now and nothing.

My first signal with a Compass Judge II TR machine, just acquired to replace my old Fisher BFO, was a gold ring. I thought "Man, this is going to be easy" but it was several more years before I found another gold ring - LOL! No pics of the first as it was scrapped along with many others years ago.
