So I have a GM4/B Ive had for many, many years. It's been swamped and dried out a couple of times. It still seams to work ok, but the threshold seams to go all whacky once in a while and the iron gauge has stopped working completely. I did find some nuggets with it though last summer. It's not completely on the fritz.

So I'm wondering, should I even care about the gauge being busted? It never really seamed to do much for me anyway. I'm not really sure what to make of it squealing like a stuck pig when working bedrock sometimes though. I backed the sensitivity way down and that did seam to help.

I guess I'm just wondering if it's worth sending it down to the factory or not and how do i know if it's sensitivity/depth is suffering from a failed capacitor or something?

It's just something that's been on my mind and summer is on the way soon enough.
