Sterling Matchbook Holder

This item that I found doesn't have a high dollar value but I think it is very interesting. Michigan Badger also found one of these recently and asked me to post pics of my sterling one, so I started this thread for that purpose.

It's a Matchbook Holder made of sterling silver. It has the initial "V" on the front. I found this at a horse riding stable and believe it's from the 1940's. It's in pretty good shape and still fully functionable. This is something you might not see every day, so I thought I would share it with you here.

I collect matchbook holders, and I have a similar item to this with a slightly different manufacturer's imprint - same mfr, but mine has a different number and doesn't say pat applied for. The main difference is that the four brads/or lugs (I don't know what to call them) hold a celluloid golf score card. I assume you could pencil in your score and erase it somehow so that it is reusable. I found it at Brimfield a few years back. Andy
