Probably everybody that has posted on here over the years has made a find that they thought might have made the banner, but for one reason or another they slipped by. This is not a thread for complaining it just happens, perhaps the find never received enough votes, or perhaps the story line was not good enough, could be a number of reasons.

I haven't posted a thread for a while, so a chance to look back at some of my finds, and others from over the years. I have had my share of banners so I can't complain really, but I must admit I thought some were a no brainer, and some unlikely to make it up top.

I'll start with one that I thought was a no brainer, but didn't go up top despite probably being one of the rarest of my finds. A key dating back to the 9th century and most likely from the Viking/Saxon period.

I was surprised that my civil war era 18K Tremont pocket watch with engraving didn't make it........no where does it say that Banner finds must be "dug". This is treasure net and people find treasure in a lot of places, not just by digging with a metal detector (which by the way I also do). But some of my best finds have been in storage units...
Just found a physical Bitcoin last week and sold it for $5,500 cash!, also have a stuffed dachsund signed by Dwight and Mamie Eisenhower, Found my first gold coin in a unit.. 1886 $5 in great condition, I could go on and on but I will stop here! 20170208_105036.jpg 20170208_104943.jpg 20170208_105057.jpg 20150728_153132.jpg 20160916_115615.jpg

(Found a coin purse with seated in it!)
This is the only thing I have found that has even gotten votes for Banner. I have to say though, I've never really been worried about getting on the Banner, I just like the Banner because it is the first place I look when I come on here to see all the awesome stuff other people have found! I really like seeing other people's finds, because it helps me to understand what is out there to find! There is some cool stuff out there! :icon_thumleft::icon_thumright: This thread is cool too! It's awesome to see the neat stuff all of you guys have found! Thanks!

Dag on Casper, your finding all the bling. Keep that up and you might be able to retire with your own jewelry store one day bud. Gold and stones can't go wrong!

I am sure this would have made it, but I was a new member at the time. It is against the rules for new members to get a banner I think. I still need to send it off to be graded. Found some nice things before I discovered Tnet, not sure if they would have made it up there or not though. Really haven't found anything worthy since. IMG_1449.JPG IMG_1445.JPG

How have you been Ahab? Not really sure. I took it to a coin show awhile back and had a guy tell me probably between 4 and 7 K. Would be worth more but has a little rim damage on the right side, courtesy of your truly. Still kick myself till this day. I really need to send it off get it graded..

Been busy my man. Not much time for treasure hunting but I'm well compensated so I can't complain. Don't beat yourself up over the nick. 99.9% of us will never ever see in the hole. I of course do plan on beating that .01% lol

I have to disagree with you Jason, the potential towards the fact that during the Oklahoma land rush every quarter section had to be built upon. I recall a teenager that found a tin can with 21 silver dollars inside when he and some other boy were clearing up an old homestead for 4-H. If you had found such a treasure I would most surely vote Banner. That is one of the reasons that I wish I was back in Oklahoma.
Yeah OD's right. This antique dealer once told me that some of his better finds he got in Oklahoma. Before the crash of 29' there were a lot of wealthy folks in that region and they bought a lot of fine things and sported expensive jewelry, they bought with gold coins. Maybe what they had left after the banks failed they hid away in a mason jar in the chicken coop.??

My best find of 2016 - Ethiopean silver medal 30 gram, sterling. PS There is this medal among the other finds of the day on the last picture and magnet on its left side.
