Very neat old picture! Very interesting pose to say the least. I honestly would think this was a "memento mori" post mortem photo, but you can usually see more signs. The way the guy is sitting in the chair looks normal, but the young man sitting up on the "desk" is strange. During post mortem photo shoots this wouldnt have been a strange pose at all. Pose the dead man in the chair and gather the loved ones around as close as possible. I'm personally saying this is just an interesting pose. Very cool, I love old pictures!

Most people in old photos are dead now. My grandmother left my mother (now 92) a photo album with lots of old tintypes and daguerotypesl. It was interesting seeing photos of the family and figuring out what part of the family tree they belonged to.
