Spooky,
It is truly sad but in many cases you are correct.

I'm just very glad to say my kids and their kids haven't fallen prey to the syndrom .... Yet.

Excellent post, but...

Sad...
truly sad..

I have noticed that myself, we have become an air conditioned, electronic instant gratification society..

Seesaws?
High swings with no SEATBELTS!!!

Gasp!!!!

I can't remember the last time I saw children outside playing.
And the "playgrounds" I DO see have been nerfed and bumbered to oblivion.. Pretty soon, you will have to sign a waiver and be issued a helmet.
Sure, we're protecting ourselves from "iliability"
But at what cost? How do you learn to pick yourself up, or spot dangerous situations?
"The government will do it for me, the government provides ALL"

It seems parks are places where people take their dogs to crap, and that is it.

And people STILL think that there will be an "endless supply" of coins and such, after they spend 8 hours a day, seven day a week for years digging them up.
Not understanding that there needs to me moderation.

Well said Spooky.
I agree.

That brings back some memories. My elementary school had a huge merry go round. The thing was about 30 feet in diameter, stood another 30 feet high. You can imagine how many kids you could get on that thing. You can also imagine how how fast the thing could get going. It was balanced on the tip of the thirty foot pole so it pivoted too. Pretty frightening but dang it was fun. Some kid broke his arm by getting smashed on the pole. That was the end of that. If our parents only knew what we did after school hours on that thing. Now that you have me thinking, I gotta find a picture of it....

Darn kid had to ruin it for everyone. ;D :laughing9:
That thing sounds awsome! Post a picture if you find it.
Thanks for the reply McMich. I'm from northern Indiana myself. We used to go over into Michigan to buy our beer in the 70's when your drinking age was 18. We owe you. :occasion14:

Now that you mention it,
I can remember when Colorado's drinking age was 18.

Now add that we drove Muscle cars all the time and gas was 35 cents a gallon.

Those were the days.

Remember going to the Drive-in in your parents station wagon with sleeping bags? Now the kids just download the newest movie onto their I-phones or whatever. The swings were under the big screen and the highlight was going to the snack bar. Two movies and the kids were free. Those were the days.
