Two fields were ready for harvest. The other field had the harvester and crew working it and we could have just let the harvester pick them for us. Thing is, we tasted tomatoes from both fields and these tasted better so we had to hand pick. Think we picked around 550 lbs. of FREE tomatoes!! So far we have processed about 175 lbs. into juice, stewed and frozen tomatoes. Gave some to neighbors but still have a lot to process. Good stuff!!

I've been thinking about the salsa. :tongue3: That's next I think or more frozen. Just gotta get it all done soon; don't want any to go to waste.

You're lucky folks, ours 'burned up' this year from our record heat wave.

Re: Tomatoes are ready!!

After giving away over 100 lbs of tomatoes we still ended up, between my son's homes and ours, with 15 pints of salsa, 7 pints of canned tomatoes, 45 quarts of canned tomatoes, 20 quarts of tomato juice and somewhere around 35 large, vacuum sealed bags of frozen tomatoes. We spent a few days processing all of this but now we can kick back and enjoy. Here are pics of "some" of the bounty.
