Well it's official, today was the hottest UK October day on record at 29.9C (85.82F). We haven't had any decent rain for a few weeks either, so the ground is rock hard. I thought about going detecting, but the field has no shade. So I waited for the heat to drop a bit and took Benson for a walk. I hope you enjoy the pics :icon_thumleft:

The first three photo's are of a Long-tailed Tit. It realy liked the camera and just kept on posing :laughing7:

This Goldfinch landed on the overhead cables as I was taking pics of the Long-tail

I thought I would call this shot "Heading Home" or "Lookout Below"

As I was coming off the Common, I spotted this Robin eyeing up the last blackberry. It was starting to get dark by now.

Some great shots again Ian, those birds must have felt quite confident having their photo taken, they usually move pretty quick. I particularly like the one with the birds flying over head in the shadows, it has a 'quiet' quality about it.
Yes the weather has been really lovely. It's almost surreal seeing photos of people sunbathing, and most of the shops already showing their Christmas wares. Long may this good weather last is all I can say, pity it didn't come abit earlier when the kiddies were off school. But hey better late than never is all I can say. Kind regards

Great pics. Sorry about the heat. I don't think we made even 80 all this year. Course, I used to chop cotton when it was 90+, so no complaints from me.

Thanks Shirley, but come on!. All this dry and hot weather, bad for detecting. Don't tell me you go somewhere hot for your holidays?, maybe Espania?

Hi RGINN, how are you going my friend :hello:, the heat is unseasonal, and with the humidity it's yuck. I'd rather be in the mountains where you are, or in Scotland with my family

Ah! Perthshire, the gateway to the highlands, a lovely part. Inverkeithing in Fife for us, just across the road and rail bridge.
