Welcome Kimberly! Great site for any and all information! Pretty useful tool and great way to learn about....well, whatever you're into!! I've thought about a trommel build as well some day. A friend of mine just bought a house on a few acres in gold country, so it's our new "base camp" for new equipment and prototypes lol.

Good luck with everything, and welcome to Tnet!

Welcome from Salinas, CA. I can't imagine tromelling of beach sand being worthwhile enough, unless you have tractor bucket speed to load and process sand, in a historic high-use area. And that is back-set enough into the dry sand, above all past high-water marks (for 50 or 100+ yrs. anyhow), such that it wasn't subject to the "in-out" action of the tidal zone and past storms. Ie.: un-disturbed and high-used sand.

If it's just something like hand-shoveled trommeling, then it seems to me that detecting would be much faster, eh ?
