HELP to identify.....Think it's from Archaic Period

So I'm digging some post holes for a customer just south of the Illinois river in Grundy Co. Illinois, and pull out the auger, and there it sat on the top of the dirt pile. First looked like an arrowhead, but then it didn't, so I did a little research. Could this possibly be an artifact from the Archaic Period? A drill. Love those unexpected finds.....

Nice drill! :icon_thumright: There may be more artifacts around in that area, may have to do a little screening?

Nice drill. Lucky the auger didn't break it! Welcome to the site.

sweet drill! I'm not sure what period, but I've certainly seen similar ones ID'ed as Archaic

Thanks everyone for your input on the drill. I just wish I could dig up the rest of the guy's yard.

Good Hunting....
