I found this in a field in Unionville, PA area. Is this from a plow? How old could it be?

Thank you. Do you know how old it would be? A friend told me that the field had grown wheat that was given to Napoleon's army.

Sickle mowers date to the late 19th early 20th century, the first ones being horse drawn, until the advent of the tractor. Before that the hay or grain was cut by hand with a hand scythe. Actually it was still cut by hand on many mountain family farms long into the 20th century, my grandfather still cut a small field by hand in the 50's, simply because he liked the exercise.

I find these a fair bit as well. You will probably also find the triangle pieces around as well. Here is a photo for anyone interested.
