We found this rock/gem in the top of our sluice box our gold mining. It was sitting at the top of the box so I'm guessing it is fairly dense. We mine in an area with a heavy amount of garnets and some sapphires. It is translucent and seems to have a rainbow of colors on the exterior almost reminding me of like an oil slick on water. Weight is .56 grams.

It looks alot like a tabular sapphire. I would need much better pics to know for sure. Try a hardness test with it, sapphires are very hard, with a hardness at 9.
Also, you don't have to give me the details of where you found it, but State and county you found it in would be good to know, as there are some States that are known for sapphires, I E North Carolina, Montana, Idaho, ect.
