The Association of Underwater Explorers has tentatively identified a shipwreck resting in approximately 400 feet of water over 120 nautical miles offshore Florida as the historic whaleback steamer CITY OF EVERETT. The CITY OF EVERETT, one of just over 40 unique whaleback vessels ever built (most of which were barges) and the only whaleback built on the west coast, was the first American steamer to circumnavigate the world. A lengthy and detailed article on the vessel's fantastic history, as well as the initial exploration of this remote wreck site and its tentative identification, can be read in the upcoming issue of WRECK DIVING MAGAZINE (http://wreckdivingmag.com/).

More information will appear on the AUE website in the near future.
