Small part from this interesting read by:

Dr. E. Lee Spence, President
Sea Research Society

It cost the British government the equivalent of over fifty million dollars (U.S. $50,000,000) to salvage and conserve portions of the wreck of the Mary Rose (lost in 1545) to basic archaeological standards. The work took over ten years and still required making extensive use of volunteers. Unbelievably, many Socialistic Archaeologists thought the work was not up to their standards, and felt even more money should have been spent. That was over a decade ago and the costs would be far higher today.

There have been well over two million wrecks in the waters of the world. Working all of these wrecks to the same standards, as used on the Mary Rose would require a budget of over one hundred trillion dollars (U.S. $100,000,000,000,000). And, it would take all of the world's underwater archaeologists alive today over ten thousand years to do the job. In effect, this is what the Socialistic Archaeologists want. Obviously, it is not realistic. The world simply doesn't have the time or the money. This archaeologist estimates that well 90% of the world's shipwrecks will be lost through natural causes centuries before the resources ever become available to work them as pure archaeology.

Apparently most Capitalistic Archaeologists (cough cough you fellow treasure hunters) recognize this and want to save what they can, and they want to profit while doing it.

Capitalism and Socialism run butthole to belly button in this racket...The Capitalists fund/research/recon/recover the nautical lost, and then the Socialists try to hijack the successful results, OR prevent them from occuring alltogether, all in the name of a bunch of national heritage/cultural heritage/lets spread the wealth to my cronies mumbo jumbo...the TH crew and the Archie crew couldn't be further apart on the spectrum, primarily due to the Archies intolerance of private entity's doing it for profit...it's the FOR PROFIT that just gaks 'em out...well who the helll is gonna do it for free?? I believe it was Scubafinder that made the observation somewhere here in the last week or so that alot, if not nearly all, T/H outfits have no problem with the special finds going to a museum or whatever...but when theres a sh*tload of coins with them, the COINS need to pay the BILLS for finding the special items....but the Socialists want to keep it all, hence the ongoing disparagy.....................and the band played on...

They vilify us, the scoundrels do, when there is only this difference, they rob the poor under the cover of law, forsooth, and we plunder the rich under the protection of our own courage. Had you not better make then one of us, than sneak after these villains for employment?" -Black Sam Bellamy

Except when you fast forward to the 21st century what you find is that the cowardly whelps now hide behind the protection of a growing governmental bureaucracy which protects them from having to experience what they determine is right for the governance of the masses, and the hen-hearted numbskulls are the ones who are empowered to place themselves above the rest of us by enforcing their will (read: regulation and enforcement) under the guise of, "Protecting the Health, Safety and Welfare of the Public."

My point exactly, Conch1.

all forms of goverment are ran by theives of a sort * -- since all goverments ( of any political type) get the funds to "live" off of from the people they rule over via "taxes" of one form or another.

and since a govt does not take the money taken in , and "build" something to turn a profiet --but merely takes in the money and deducts what it needs to support its self , and gives back the left overs to the public --it always takes in more money than it gives out * unless it "runs" a debt up in the name of 'the people' which of course will then lead to ever higher taxes as the debt one day has to be "paid off"

goverment might be a "needed evil" but the best goverment is the absolutely smallest goverment that only does the things that the people can not do for themselves , so as to lighten the "tax burden' on the people in general. -- thus alllowing the public at large to keep as much of "their' own money as possible.
