Cornelius, I believe it is a good thing for persons to venture their own build, however it isn't for everyone, including me!
My ROV is just like another kid in my book, and I treat it accordingly. The main camera is a digital production quality cam with another camera located in the palm of the manipulator. Depth rating is to 1200 fsw.
And the cost is a certain hurdle. This isn't a do it yourself project as every piece is custom made by the factory. The motors alone are $4400 ea., total cost is more than most homes.
