Most of it is still out there. We find all kinds of odd coins, some going back to the 16th century on the Delaware Beaches. It is illegal to go in Delaware waters to look for shipwrecks and take out artifacts. The beaches are fair game. Best I got was a 1774 Gold Guinea from the Faithful Steward wreck. The mouth of the Delaware River was and is treacherous waters.
