Our ground in Alaska is now frozen solid (over an inch deep)... So decided to hit the beach (which isn't really a beach, just mud flats that see very few people). And from what I understand, my MXT isn't made for salty beaches... So against all odds, I found this tonight on my first dig of the night.

Been at it for about two months now and have found 3 gold and 1 huge 925 silver ring (all in the past 3 weeks). We don't have too many old coins here, so I have to specialize in something! ;D

I'm taking this baby in this weekend for appraisal... anyone want to venture a guess? It's a tiny ring... doesn't fit over the knuckle on my wife's pinkie finger let alone any appendage I have. However my guess is 18K gold, 2 nice diamonds, and a very nice opal centerpiece - the stone has some very unique character.

Yes, and clad laden parks... I've harvested over $60 in 2 months and I've been skipping hundreds of zinc pennies lately. When you've lost all feeling in your fingers, zinc takes on a new priority... even on the surface.

Well the jeweler said "gold, diamonds and opal". Just a couple of hundred bucks, but called it a very nice piece. So I guess I'm going to send it off to my daughter instead of pawning it to recoup my detector cost... she likes it and there will definately be more opportunities next spring.

When I think about detecting for gold in Alaska I usually think of nuggets. But this is much better when they have precious stones included!!!!!!!!! GREAT FIND! ;D
