Well, I had the day off and spent most of it puttering
around the computerwaiting for school to get out for
the little kiddies. Unfortunatly, I wound up
dozing off and waking up with only an hour or so to
hunt before the sun set.
Not to be discouraged, I hit the closest school yard to me.
It's only a block away and I hit it at least once a month
so I knew I wouldn't find much except clad. Boy was I
wrong!
About fifteen minutes in, I got a strong penny/dime signal
and pulled up the heart shaped charm you see. No marks
on it, so it's just your basic gumball charm but still looks neat.
A few feet later, I pulled up the other charm.
Moving over to the playset, I picked up my first quarter
signal and moved a bit of gravel. Pulled out this watch,
it died, but it's complete so I'm guessing it was dropped
recently as we had a pretty heavy rain yesterday.
Finally, I moved over to a tall tree smack dab in the center.
I've detected around it a few times in the past, but no luck.
But...I had two charms!
PING PING! PING PING! penny/dime. Damned. Probably
another charm. I kicked aside the gravel a bit and swept
the pile. Nothing. PING PING PING PING! I pulled out my
knife thinking okay, maybe a wheatie or rosie? Digging a
bit, I saw the glint of silver. ROSIE!!! I reached down
and pulled it out. Nope, not a Rosie, it looked really weird
and kinda foreign.
Oh well, I put it in my apron and went about my business.
When the sun finally set far enough to where I was having
some problems reading my VDI's I packed up and walked
home. Oh well, at least I didn't get skunked.
I reached in the apron and pulled out the unknown coin,
and took it, washed the grime off. Oh wow...my heart
stopped for a moment I think. I've never found one before, a BEAUTIFUL...1905 no mintmark Barber Dime!!
Well hell, I had to get my scanner out for this one,
here it is, and thanks for looking. Happy Hunting!
