Found an old house where they are in the process of building a new subdivision. It is a very nice old brick house, with an outdoor pool. It looks to date to the 1920's or 1930's. I talked to the site supervisor and he said "Go ahead", I wasn't able to get permission to get inside the house due to liability. I spent the afternoon there and my first signal was an old Ear Ring, it looks to be very old, it is heavy but real crusty, obviously some type of costume jewelry. My first coin signal was right in front of the front steps, it was a solid 12-12 on my Etrac, which is always either an old ring pull tab or a nickel. I dug the plug, flipped it over and there it was a 1926 Buffalo nickel, I thought "what a way to start". This is only my 3rd Buffalo nickel this year. Continued the hunt and found a wheat cent, few more minutes another wheat cent then another, so I was thinking there should be some siver here, so looked a little while longer then got a real high coin signal, dug the plug and there she was, a 1943 Mercury Dime!!!! Found another wheat cent a little while later, then just before calling it a hunt, got a 1919 Mercury!!!! The wheats are all 1940's and 1950's. I hope to go back soon before they cover this place over forever. I know these finds aren't spectacular to most of you, but Mercs and Buffalo's are pretty scarce around here it seems and to find both in one hunt is pretty rare for me anyway. Thanks for looking. HH
