Classic Head Large Cent, Another Shoe Buckle Frame, and More

KKC (KirkKyleChris) got out today to another new site. It didn't produce enough for us today in order to hunt it again in the future. I dug a Classic Head large cent, another ornate 1700s shoe buckle frame piece, an 1863 Indian, an 1864 Indian, and other homesite relics. The Classic Head is 100% confirmed, but the picture of the obverse just doesn't show its detail for you all to see. Oh well, it counts and I can add another copper to my 2009 season total. I believe this is my fifth Classic Head largie for the year.

I was kind of bummed out that the site didn't produce any Colonials or at least a few more large cents. I love large cents like you wouldn't believe, but, after I found the 1700s shoe buckle on top of the ground, I was pretty excited about what could be there. It then spit out four Indian Heads and only one large copper. You should of heard my yelp when I picked up the shoe buckle. The potential was there, but it left us hanging out to dry at the end of the day.

IP, I know how you feel. It has happened way too many times than I can count. You and IH are posting something killer tomorrow night. I see another beautifully-gilted Rev War button for you.

I have a new area in mind, not one we haven't been to, just haven't been there lately. There's not much research behind it but we'd rather take our chances and not have to travel over an hour each way. Losing 4 hours of digging daylight doesn't help, but to kill over two hours on the highway you don't really even feel like you had a real hunt. That being said, I will prepare some tonight and I do have one very good looking set of fields in mind. So you should see a post!
